Den building at Studfold Adventure Trails

Den Building

What will your den be? A secret storytelling hidey-hole. A fairy castle. A woodland fortress for a troll. Let your imagination run wild at our popular den-building area of our adventure trail here in the Yorkshire Dales. We’ve got lots and lots of sticks for all children to express their inner grand designs! Every den is unique, and half the fun is deciding what your creation will become. Please note that all children will require adult supervision in the den building area.

Studfold Bird HideBird Hide

Take a moment to slow down and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the countryside at the Studfold Bird Hide. Tucked away amongst the trail, it's the perfect spot to observe local wildlife and see how many different bird species you can spot.

Children can become nature detectives as they watch for woodland birds, learn fascinating wildlife facts and record and draw their discoveries with lots of arts and craft materials on hand. The bird hide offers a peaceful contrast to the more energetic activities on the trail and helps visitors develop a deeper connection with the natural world around them.

Giant's Storytelling Chair

Deep within the magical woodland near the Village of Two Stone Wishes, you'll discover the Giant's Storytelling Chair. This larger-than-life feature invites children and adults alike to take a seat and let their imaginations run wild. Share a favourite family story, create your own fairy tale adventure or continue the magical journey through Studfold's enchanted woodland. The Giant's Storytelling Chair has become a favourite place for families to pause, relax and enjoy the wonder of storytelling together.

And so much more…

Look out for rabbits and a variety of birds including treecreepers, coal tits, pheasants, and – if you’re lucky – a greater spotted woodpecker. Nature is brought to life through sensory experiences such as magnifying points, listening stations, and hands-on discovery boxes, with age-related cluesheets available too.

Don’t miss our giant nature sculptures – a fox, a hedgehog and a giant spider’s web. You can’t miss them! They’re all part of the fun, and our celebration of the natural world all around us at Studfold.

Whether you're building, spotting, imagining or storytelling, these unique experiences are all part of what makes the Studfold Adventure Trail such a memorable family day out in the Yorkshire Dales. Every corner of the trail offers a new opportunity to discover, learn and play together.
